I enjoy animal stories, even in the young adult variety. I can sometimes enjoy a bit of fantasy, however this for me was definitely for children. Just the covers on the Cat series drew me in. I felt the same about the Cat series & like to think that animals do talk, however sweet & fantastical, this was not on my list of read more.

Watership Down or my favorite, The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams is my ideal of animals talking, ok, call it fantasy.
