The first season of this classic TV show is a little rough around the edges, but that's precisely what makes me like it so much- the humor in the first season sets the template for the seasons to follow ( it was just consistently a little edgier in this season ). I don't think television comedies get any better than this ( in fact I'm surprised such an intelligent and genuinely funny show ever made it onto the air in the USA- perhaps this is why they polished it up in the subsequent years it aired ). The first four seasons of Newhart are definitely worth watching- especially if you enjoy laughing out loud.
