"In this riveting Cold War history, highly acclaimed author Brian Latell offers us a new and surprising look at Fidel Castro. Latell draws his narrative on personal interviews with high level defectors from Cuba's intelligence, many of whom have not spoken out for over nearly five decades. The result is a vivid and revelatory account that revises our understanding of how Fidel operated, what his goals were, and how he imagined the future for his tiny island nation. Latell takes us from from the crimes Fidel allegedly committed as a youth in the anti-Battista movement, to how quickly he built up an intelligence system that rivaled the Soviet Union's KGB and Britain's M15 in effectiveness, and how that translated into a feud with JFK's administration and the CIA, and the ultimate confrontation during the Cuban Missile Crises that brought the world to the brink of a nuclear holocaust"-- Provided by publisher.

// He asserts two debatable points yet supports them with credible sources-that Castro knew of Oswald's plot to assassinate John F. Kennedy . . . \\ [The author is the former Director of the CIA's Center for the Study of Intelligence and another of many examples of the stupification of the American mind in actually paying for this drivel with taxpayer funds????? Quite a bit of fake news in this dude's background.]
And much of this book has already been debunked.
The author claims that Oswald killed police officer Tippit, but since NO ballistics testing was ever performed on his handgun and since witnesses stated that they saw two older men running form the scene, and one fit the description of Jack Ruby, how could he possibly know this?
The author claims that Oswald shot at Gen. Edwin Walker, yet witnesses saw two tall men in suits leaving the scene, and Oswald was average to below-average in height. Walker would later be arrested and convicted, multiple times, of propositioning underaged males in public restrooms.
The author claims that Oswald purchased his Mannlicher-Carcano rifle, yet the FBI-presented // evidence \\ shows that in 1963 Oswald was supposed to have sent away for it [Dallas to Chicago] and his money order was deposited 15 hours after it was sent from Dallas? And the rifle came back several days later - - incredible by today's standards with Federal Express, but this was 1963, for goodness sakes?!?!?! And the model he was supposed to have ordered was a smaller, lighter version than the Warren Commission presented as evidence, and the Chicago store proprietor pointed out discrepancies with the paperwork, and stated that rifle product number was never stocked there!

Having also read thousands of declassified documents, and virtually every book published [and some only tangentially related] on the assassination of President Kennedy, neither Oswald - - nor any anti-Castro or pro-Castro - - Cubans had anything to do with it; the overwhelming evidence, both individual recollection, photographic evidence, declassified documents which have undergone extensive temporal analysis [time and place] expose the CIA-hired assassins as: Jean Rene Souetre [OAS assassin, French Army officer deserter, failed in his attempt on President deGaulle's life, vehemently against self-rule for African countries], Mozes Maschkivitzan [Belgian criminal and CIA contract killer, involved previously with the murder of President Patrice Lumumba of the Congo - - got him into the hands of Mobuto's men to be flow to Katanga for torture and execution], Lazlo the Hungarian [OAS weapons specialist, French Foreign Legion deserter], and team lead, Lucien Conein of the CIA. [All the drivel about Oswald, anti-Castro Cubans, pro-Castro Cubans, KGB, Mafia [except for Jack Ruby], Corsican Brotherhood or Union Corse, was promulgated by the CIA's disinformation division and other gov't agencies and contractors.]
