From Darlenes--"Really .... how did this dude ever get a book on the library system. Listen to this - he is a ex-baptist minister, a member of the so-called Jesus seminar group and he is a proclaimed atheist and tries to prove the lack of proper evidence for a historical Jesus!"

Are you serious? Well Really... this "dude" is a legitimate, hardworking, intelligent scholar. He has spent a lifetime in serious scholarship with the feilds about which he writes. This is the answer to your question, "....how did this dude ever get a book on the library system.(sic)(?)"

Obviously, you have a different world-veiw than Dr. Price, and, it seems you position therefore is that his work should be excluded from our public library system. Surley, you must understand how positively regressive and oppressive your sentiments are? Surley, you can not truley wish to reopen the doors of sectarian censorship that humankind spent much of its existance stuggling to close? Surley, you must, at some level, know that free speech is a fundamental cornerstone of our society; without it, the US would no long BE the US.

Dr. Price is a serious, thoughtful scholar. You do not see reality as he does. That is fine. But your suggestion that his work should be oppressed disgusts me. And it also reminds me that folks like me, and Dr. Price, must ever remain vigilant of folks like you. We, and our freethinking forebearers, have had to contend with your ignorant tribal opression for all of history. Now, in the US, we are free from your overt oprression; but you remind me that your ilk are ever present and we must remain ever on gaurd.

Wow, Christianity is even more confused than I originally thought!
Not willing to be open to a spiritual life himself, he wishes to discourage others from having one. Quite possibly he does not care that all the books, groups, movements and practices that he attacks are actually helping and comforting people. Sad.
There are no doubt as many people outside 'religion' leading spiritual lives as there are in them. A fact that the tradition theologian doesn' know (or too afraid to understand). And that is the real SECRET.
Well, the truth needs no defence.
However people beginning a spiritual journey are unlikely to see clearly the truth that sets them free, and the guide that can take them there.
Do yourself a favour and have a look at all the ideas that are being slammed here and there is no doubt that you will be going in the right direction.
