Loving this series, seeing her as a teen/young adult makes for a whole new perspective on her adult life ^^

This series is such great fun to read, so funny, which makes the poignant parts that much better. Carrie Bradshaw is finally in New York City on the cusp of her eighteenth birthday determined to "make it" as a writer. She finally meets Samantha and Miranda, who if you follow the original novel/tv show, become her best friends. It was really great to get to know these girls and see how they help shape Carrie's view of New York and her life. I quite liked how all the relationships turned out and how much each character has learned about herself by the end of the book. The last chapter nicely sets up the next book which I really cannot wait to read!

In my opinion, I think this was even better than the first book in the series, "The Carrie Diaries". When reading this book, its important to keep in mind that this is the story of her life in those crucial years where her experiences and mistakes help form the future Carrie. This book series shouldn't be compared to the TV series because that was loosely based off of Candace Bushnell's collection of columns anyways.

As a second book in the series I felt that I was even more interested to read what would happen to Carrie in New York. The first book was a bit slow paced yet it was necessary to establish her past. "Summer in the City" picked up steam perhaps to match the pace of the city and the excitement of her future opportunities. All in all it was a fun summer read that left me wondering what will happen next in Carrie's adventures.
