A satisfying continuation of the story of Lady Cassidy, a Kaeleer Queen who comes to rule a territory in Terrielle. There are properly villainous villains, honorable heroes, and a budding romance. The side plot with the SaDiablo family back in Kaeleer is less interesting than the main narrative, and seems to be a bid to keep returning to beloved characters without much substantive plot or character development. The characters in Cassidy's court, however, shine.

This is book 3 of the trilogy that started with The Invisible Ring and continued with The Shadow Queen. I was thrilled to read more about Cassie's life in Terreille with Gray and the others she met there. And the ending to the story was highly satisfying in all ways.

I enjoyed the book, but I honestly think it would have been a lot stronger if it involved less of the SaDiablo family.
