My teacher read it to our class, and I loved it. Lots of inferencing included, I think. At first I thought the tiger represented fear, but as I read through, I think it should be gangs or drugs. Any way, if you hadn't read this, I think you should. Great book.

Temptations surround kids and it is easy to say 'yes' to exciting offers, but when they realize they may have made the wrong decision - perhaps of joining the wrong group of kids - correcting that mistake may be much harder. Riding the Tiger is an emotionally-rich allegorical tale about such choices, and about discovering the difference between fear and respect. An engaging read and a creative way of approaching a difficult subject.
